SEO Professional Observations by Tim Dineen

There have been well done posts and surveys talking about SEO salaries lately. Meanwhile, this looks at where the SEO talent is. Does it match with where the opportunties are? Where are the SEO jobs?

After creating this @SEOjobs Twitter account, and watching the stream of SEO-releated jobs there, I've come to learn where SEO jobs are concentrated:

The top ten states with recent SEO opportunties:

22.3% - California 16.5% - New York 5.9% - Massachusetts 5.0% - Florida 4.1% - Illinois

3.7% - Texas 3.6% - Connecticut 3.1% - Virginia 2.8% - New Jersey 2.8% - Arizona

I took a sample of 1,000 recent SEO job listings from that feed. Indeed gathers job listings from across the web, so this group of 1,000 job postings is a good sample - not representative of one region or niche more than another. (Freelance positions are filtered out - many of them don't include a specific location anyway.)

The Twitter feed is populated via a feed from job search engine Indeed.com. More than 4,000 job listings have been re-posted to Twitter since the creation of the account in May. You can also follow this link for SEO jobs and use Indeed to filter for your location or other keywords.
